What is smile design?
A smile is more than a row of teeth. How it looks depends on the colour and shape of each tooth, the line of the gums, the curve of the lips and the proportions of the face around it. Smile design is the careful planning that brings these together. Instead of fixing one tooth at a time, we look at your whole smile and decide what would make the most natural difference.
As part of cosmetic dentistry in Kozhikode, smile design is often what people mean when they say they want their smile to look better but are not sure what treatment they need. The answer may be simpler than they expect.
See your smile before treatment starts
Before we change anything, we show you what we are planning. We take photographs and a 3D digital intraoral scan of your teeth, then build a digital preview of the proposed smile. You can see the new shape, length and shade on screen and tell us what you would like adjusted.
For many plans we can also make a temporary mock-up: a thin, tooth-coloured layer placed over your teeth for a short time, so you can see and feel the new smile in your own mirror and show it to family. It is removed afterwards, and nothing is changed until you are happy.
Treatments a smile makeover can include
A smile makeover in Calicut is usually built from a small number of treatments, chosen for your goals and the health of your teeth:
- Teeth whitening to lift stains to a natural, brighter shade.
- Veneers, in porcelain or composite, to change the shape or colour of front teeth and close small gaps.
- Composite bonding to repair chips and worn edges.
- Invisalign clear aligners, from a registered Invisalign provider, to straighten teeth before cosmetic work.
- Gum contouring to even out a high or uneven gum line.
- Zirconia or ceramic crowns for teeth that are too damaged for a veneer.
Keeping it natural
We avoid one-size-fits-all results. A shade that suits one face can look too white on another, and teeth that are perfectly identical rarely look real. We aim for proportions that suit you, keep as much of your natural tooth as possible, and often suggest the least invasive option first. We are honest when a treatment is not needed, or when straightening your teeth first would give a better outcome with less work later.
